SMT Patch in Automated Production Line Process

In our SSD and DDR production process, surface mount technology (SMT) is a core component of modern automated production. As a manufacturer specializing in the R&D and production of SSD and DDR products, Bestoss relies on advanced and mature SMT processes to ensure that every PCB meets industrial-grade reliability and performance requirements. After solder paste is precisely printed onto the stencil and transferred to the PCB pads, the highly automated SMT placement process begins.

First, the PCB passes through a conveyor system into the placement process, a step that directly impacts component placement accuracy and the performance of the final product. Our production line is equipped with a variety of placement equipment, including high-speed placement machines for tiny components and versatile machines for handling large or unusually shaped components, ensuring efficient and flexible production. The placement machines utilize a standardized tape feed system that supports tape widths of 8mm and 12mm, accommodating electronic components of varying sizes. Our feed system precisely controls the component feed position, ensuring component positioning accuracy of ±0.02mm during pick-up, significantly reducing reject rates and errors.

During the placement process, the equipment's multi-type nozzles, combined with an intelligent vacuum system, can adaptively grasp components of varying sizes, ranging from 0402 and 0201-sized resistors and capacitors to QFPs, BGAs, DDR memory chips, and SSD controllers. The vacuum force is dynamically adjusted based on component weight, preventing both drops caused by insufficient pressure and damage caused by excessive pressure. This significantly improves production stability.

The Bestoss vision alignment system further ensures placement accuracy. A high-resolution CCD camera identifies fiducial marks on the PCB and corrects for PCB position deviations in real time. Even during high-speed placement, the system performs image recognition and angle compensation for various components, ensuring that placement positions adhere to design specifications. The vision system also detects defects such as component polarity and pin deformation, significantly improving product yield.

To meet the stringent signal integrity and reliability requirements of SSD and DDR products, the Bestoss production line combines high-speed and precision placement machines, enabling flexible placement of both small standardized components and large, multi-pin integrated circuits. This combination improves production efficiency while ensuring the assembly quality of high-density interconnect boards (such as DDR memory modules and SSD main control boards).

After all components have been precisely mounted, the PCB enters the next critical process: reflow soldering. Bestoss's SMT production line utilizes automated control systems and real-time process monitoring throughout, ensuring parameter control and quality traceability at every step.
